Our new teachers

In addition to the appointment of our new Head, Clare Eddison, we will also be welcoming three new teachers to the school in September:

Gina Mitchell will be teaching Lotus Class (Years 5 and 6) four days a week, along with Clare who will teach one day a week.

Gina joins the school from Willingdon Community School where she was Head of Department, Ethics and Philosophy, and recognised as an outstanding teacher. In addition to teaching years 7-11, she has experience in the transition process working with Year 6 and 7. Gina has had additional training in written and oral literacy, SEN and Autism. She graduated from Exeter University and did her PGCE at Brighton University where she undertook her primary placement at the Dharma Primary School back in 2005.

Fuschia Fowke will be teaching Ocean Class (Years 3 and 4) three days a week along with Renisha Smythe (see below).

Fuschia has been teaching Years 3 and 4 at a British Primary School in Madrid (a Montessori school that followed the National Curriculum). Fuschia graduated from Brighton University and then Primary PGCE (with distinction) from Bangor University. Fuschia has 12 years’ experience teaching in primary schools and is keen to develop opportunities for Spanish language, Latin dance and Forest School.

Renisha Smythe will spend three days a week as a SEN Teacher and two days a week as an NQT in Ocean Class.

Renisha spent four years as a Learning Support Assistant at Swiss Cottage School in London prior to training as a SEN Graduate Teacher, then relocating to Brighton. A Special Educational Needs school, Swiss Cottage has been rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted five times in a row, and is renowned as a development and research centre. Renisha has experience working with children with moderate and severe learning difficulties as well as autistic spectrum conditions. Renisha undertook a degree from the Open University in Childhood and Youth Studies and then her PGCE through the Institute of Education, UCL, where her specialities included phonics, ICT and English.
