Hello from all at the Dharma School

Frequently Asked Questions

I am not Buddhist - does this matter?

No, we welcome families from all spiritual and cultural backgrounds.

How is Buddhism taught in the school?

Children receive regular meditation practice to develop a reflective understanding of themselves, their life and the world around them. We discuss key Buddhist teachings to help children understand cause and effect, cooperation and change, in Buddhism known as karma, interdependence and impermanence. The five Buddhist precepts form a code of conduct enabling children to see how right action leads to wholesome lives. To approach meditation physically we introduce children to the practice of yoga or movement education developing mind-body awareness as well as coordination, balance and good physical health.

Parents, children and teachers in school garden What are considered the main benefits of a primary education based on a Buddhist ethos?
